Biography

Ms. Kim moved to the United States to attend the Longy School of Music of Bard College after graduating from Busan High School of the Arts in South Korea in 2010. While attending Longy, she took summer courses at Emerson College to obtain her Bachelor of Music through their joint degree program. After that experience, Ms. Kim felt inspired to continue on her journey of learning English as well as exploring the academic side of music. Thus, she acquired a Master of Music degree at New England Conservatory, where she is currently working towards her Doctor of Musical Arts studying with Yeesun Kim of the Borromeo String Quartet.

An active performer, Ms. Kim has appeared as a featured musician on WQXR’s McGraw Hill Young Artist Showcase and Longy’s Septemberfest concert series. She also was a recent member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra for their 2018-2019 season.

When she's not playing classical music, Ms. Kim jams with her genre-straddling band, ROSIN, who call their original music "disreputable classical music.” ROSIN has advanced to the final round of the 21CM Emerging Artist Competition at Depauw School of Music and has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Outside of her musical life, Ms. Kim enjoys spending quality time with her friends, cooking and traveling. Learn more about Ms. Kim at her website.
