June 6 finale caps the yearlong celebration of 50 years of coeducation at Exeter.

“Our Voice at the Table,” the culminating event in the yearlong commemoration of the impacts of coeducation at Exeter, will feature talks by alumnae and faculty, and arts performances by students and alumnae. 

This virtual event will take place June 6 at 6 p.m. ET.

Members of the Exeter community are invited to register.

Program highlights

Hosted by Gloria Riviera ’92, former ABC News correspondent and founder of It Must Be Said Media, the event will include:

  • Opening remarks from Principal Bill Rawson '71; P'08 and Chloe Gavin '72, co-chair of the Coeducation Engagement Committee.
     
  • Yesterday,” a conversation about the early years of coeducation with Clayton Spencer '73, president of Bates College, and Susan Herney '69, '74, '83 (Hon.), emerita faculty and recipient of the 2013 Founders’ Day Award.
     
  • Today,” a discussion by Candace Bacchus Hollingsworth '99, the first Black mayor of Hyattsville, Maryland, who resigned from her position in late 2020 to become national co-chair of Our Black Party, a political party centered on the needs of Black people and communities.
     
  • Tomorrow,” a mother-and-daughter conversation about the impacts of Exeter on two generations of Exonians with Dr. Rebecca “Becky” Kurth '79, a physician and associate professor of clinical medicine at Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Zoe Marshall '17, a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University.
     
  • Closing remarks by Eunice “Nicie” Panetta '84, first woman president of the Trustees of Phillips Exeter Academy and founder of Bird on the Wing Media, a podcast and digital media production company, and Trustee Jacqueline "Jackie" Hayes '85, co-chair of the Coeducation Steering Committee.
     
  • Performances by China Forbes '88, singer-songwriter and lead singer with Pink Martini, and current students.
