Biography

Ms. Brennan brings over thirty years of experience in independent schools to Exeter’s College Counseling team. A seasoned college counselor, teacher, administrator, coach and dorm parent, Ms. Brennan most recently served as Associate Director of College Counseling at Brooks School in North Andover, Massachusetts.  At previous schools, she gained experience as an English teacher, department head, varsity coach, college counselor, community service coordinator, and dorm head. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and master’s degrees from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College. In addition to Brooks School, she has served on the faculty at Hotchkiss School, Greenwich Academy and Vermont Academy.

As a parent and a professional, Ms. Brennan has many years of experience understanding adolescents, parents, and the college admissions landscape. She has witnessed many changes in independent schools and in colleges over the span of her career. She is an attentive listener and a keen observer who helps each student navigate their journey of self-discovery, and she loves to keep in touch with past students to hear about life’s twists and turns.  She keeps current with trends in college admissions as a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), and the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS). 

Wendy Brennan is the mother of three daughters in their twenties. A self-proclaimed bird nerd, she also loves exploring lakes and woods. She lives off campus in Exeter with her wife, Cathy, and their Boxer, Tux.
