Biography

Ms. Rankin has a bachelor’s in applied ecology and a master’s in ecology and evolutionary biology, both from the University of California, Irvine.  In graduate school she worked on the evolution of plant breeding systems in a genus endemic to the Hawaiian islands. 

Ms. Rankin has been teaching biology, genetics and environmental science at Exeter for 14 years.  In addition to teaching, she has coached the cycling team; worked with ESSO, the school’s social service organization; lived in several dorms; and served on numerous committees.  To keep her genetics curriculum current, she has attended several classes through Cold Spring Harbor Lab in Cold Spring Harbor, New York.
