Germany
Students in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin

Using startup-friendly Berlin as their classroom, students will learn to leverage their business skills to create sustainable solutions to community challenges. During the first half of the program, students learn to develop and pitch a business. Accelerated, interactive lessons give students a detailed understanding of the Lean Startup methodology, including the financial and research skills required to get a viable business off the ground. During the second half of the program, students will use the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals as a framework for discussing various challenges facing Berlin — all the skills they need to be changemakers in their home communities. Students live with Exeter program chaperones on the CIEE campus and have opportunities to explore the rich cultural and historical heritage of this dynamic city. Summer break: June.

The Future Business Leaders of America national conference is considered the pinnacle of the FBLA-PBL (Problem Based Learning) experience. Each year, members of the Exeter Business Club compete for spots in this exclusive four-day conference where students attend in leadership events, share their successes and learn new ideas about shaping their career future through workshops and exhibits. Summer break: Late June.

United States - Boston
Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge in Boston

Using Boston as the central location, this weeklong program explores the intersection of ethics and engineering. We delve into the different paths of innovation across industries such as healthcare and technology, build a shared working knowledge around the development of CRISPR processes and their ethical/practical implications, and analyze the troubling/benefiting consequences of urban design in the creation of progress and well-being of different sectors of the population. Students build their situational awareness of this global city while also having an important opportunity to develop closer relationships with peers and adults. Thanksgiving break.
