“I love the “aha” moments when a student beams with pride after they’ve figured out something they’ve been struggling with.”

“I love the way that archaeology can tell the stories of the people who are often forgotten, ignored, or missed when looking at the past. I was drawn to history and the study of material histories in particular because they gave me the tools to tell these important, oft ignored stories.

I get excited when I get to use my skills to experience, recover, and share the lives of these people- literally feeling the fingerprints of potters or reconstructing the diets or clothing of people from 2800 years ago to highlight why these nameless individuals have stories that matter and how these stories help us understand our world – both in the past and today.”

“When students have a really good discussion, where everyone struggles productively together, until it all clicks into place – that is magical to watch.”
