Conference Schedule
All conferences begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 21 and end at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26. A typical conference day includes:
- Morning sessions: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Afternoon sessions: 1:30 p.m. – 4:30p.m.
- Optional evening events: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00p.m.

The cost and what’s included
The cost of our Exeter, New Hampshire, programs is $1,900.00. This includes all courses, course materials, three daily meals, featured speaker presentations, receptions and events. Single dorm room accommodation is also included in the conference cost.
Payment Methods
We accept two forms of payment.
- Credit card: You must have the credit card account number and security code available when registering. You will be transferred to our secure payment site once you submit your registration form.
- Electronic checks: Please have your bank routing number and 16-digit account number available when registering. When you submit your registration form, you will automatically be routed to our secure payment site.
Payment Exceptions
If your school plans to pay by check or you have obtained a grant to cover tuition fees, please email the conference office prior to starting the registration process to discuss your payment plans and obtain a payment exception code.
Registration Transfers
If you cannot attend, you may transfer your registration to another faculty from your school. No penalty incurred. Deadline to transfer your registration is four weeks prior to the start of the program. Email your transfer request to the conference office. Please provide the full name and email for the new conference attendee and indicate who they are replacing.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellation notification must be received via email by May 1. Refunds are subject to a 20% processing fee. No refund will be issued for cancellations received after June 1 unless in accordance with the Emergency Refund Policy.
Emergency Refund Policy
If, after June 1, a registered participant is unable to attend the conference due to the death of an immediate family member, hospitalization, or other extraordinary circumstances, an emergency refund may be granted. Refunds are subject to a 20% processing fee. All emergency refund requests must be received via email no later than June 19.

When can I check in to the conference?
Conference check-in is located in the E.P.A.C. located at 9 Tan Lane in Exeter, N.H.
Saturday Check-In
Check-in opens at 2 p.m.and closes at 10 p.m.
For arrivals after 10 p.m., Exeter’s Campus Safety staff will assist with check-in. Please call 603-444-7777.
Sunday Check-In
Check-in runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Attendees arriving after 4 p.m. should contact conferences@exeter.edu or call Lauren Rosen at 603-777-4471.
If you need to arrive later, please email Lauren Rosen, conference manager. There will be someone at the registration desk during the evening, and if you arrive later than 10 p.m. on Saturday or later than 9 p.m. Sunday, you will be directed to call our safety and security team to let you into your dorm.
Does it cost extra to arrive on Saturday?
We love our attendees to arrive on Saturday. It gives you a chance to get settled, familiarize yourself with the campus and spend a day in and around the town of Exeter. We do not charge any additional fees for a Saturday arrival. However, the first conference meal available is Sunday morning brunch. Saturday night you are on your own for dinner. There are local dining options within walking distance from the Academy. When you check in to the conference, you’ll be given local dining options, including delivery services.
What airport(s) should I plan to use?
You have two options for airport travel: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is located one hour south of Phillips Exeter Academy. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is located 45 minutes west of the Academy.
Do you provide transportation from Boston South Station or Logan Airport to Phillips Exeter Academy?
We do not provide direct transportation from the airport to campus, but we do offer a shuttle from the C&J Trailways bus terminal in Seabrook, New Hampshire, to campus during the conference arrival weekend.
1. Take a C&J Trailways bus to Seabrook, New Hampshire. This bus service originates at South Station in Boston and stops at Logan Airport terminals every hour. Check the C&J website for weekend northbound rates and schedules. You can pre-purchase your ticket online or buy the ticket when you arrive in Seabrook. The bus will be marked “Dover/Portsmouth/Seabrook.” You will disembark at the Seabrook station.
2. From Seabrook to Exeter. Phillips Exeter Academy offers a complimentary shuttle that departs the Seabrook station every hour to coincide with the C&J arrivals from Boston. Our hourly shuttle service from Seabrook to the Academy is as follows:

*Late Saturday arrivals staying in a dorm: If you miss our last shuttle, you are responsible for getting yourself to Exeter’s campus. Check with the Seabrook C&J bus terminal staff for taxi services. Head to 22 Tan Lane, Exeter, New Hampshire. A member of our staff will be there to assist you. Dial 603-777-4444 if you need to reach us.
I am flying into the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport. How do I get to Phillips Exeter Academy?
Our recommendation is to take a car service to the Academy. Your destination is the Elizabeth Phillips Academy Center, 9 Tan Lane, Exeter, NH. This is where you will check in to the conference. Below are some options for local car services. The Academy does not endorse any particular service, nor is this an exhaustive list of providers. We have compiled this list as a courtesy to our conference attendees.
Phillips Exeter Academy provides private shuttles to Boston Logan International Airport and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on Friday. There is a $45 fee, charged when you register, if you choose this option. We can only provide shuttle service to those who have requested it in their registration.
For travel to Logan Airport: The buses leave campus at 1 p.m. on Friday and arrive at Logan Airport at approximately 2 p.m. The buses will stop at all terminals. For those traveling to Boston’s South Station, you can take our bus to Logan Airport and disembark at any terminal. From there, you will transfer to a Silver Line public bus that will take you to South Station.
For travel to Manchester Airport: The shuttle leaves campus 1 p.m. and will arrive in Manchester by 2 p.m.
What time should I plan my outgoing flight, train or bus?
The conference officially ends at 1 p.m. on Friday. Our buses to Logan Airport and Manchester Airport depart campus at 1 p.m. You will arrive at your respective airport by 2 p.m. We recommend scheduling all departing flights any time after 3:30 p.m. If you are traveling to South Station (via Logan Airport), you will arrive there by approximately 2:30 p.m. Please schedule outgoing trains accordingly. If you need to leave campus before 1 p.m. to catch an earlier flight, you will be responsible for your own transportation.
Is there parking available during the week?
Yes, there is parking available on and around campus. When you arrive at the Academy, temporarily park your car on Tan Lane while you check in to the conference. Then, refer to our campus map for campus parking lot information.
Can I take a train from Boston to Exeter?
Yes, the Amtrak Downeaster makes daily trips between Boston’s North Station and Brunswick, ME. This train stops in Exeter at the Lincoln Street Station. Check the Amtrak website for schedules and fares. From the Lincoln Street Station, it is 1/2 mile walk to the Academy.
Lodging
Dormitory housing
On-campus dormitory housing is included in the conference fee.
A few important notes:
- Dorm rooms are reserved for conference participants only.
- Pillows are not provided for reasons of personal comfort and hygiene.
- There is no air conditioning, and it can be warm in late June.

What’s included in a dorm room?
An extra-long twin bed, dresser, desk, closet and lamp. A linen bundle with two flat sheets, pillowcase and two bath towels will be provided. We recommend you bring a washcloth, your own pillow and a long fitted twin sheet. Blankets are provided on request at registration. We do not provide pillows.
What should I bring?
We recommend you bring a washcloth, your own pillow, a long fitted twin sheet and flip flops for the shower. Blankets are provided on request (on registration) however, we encourage you to bring your own if you are driving. Pillows are not provided.
Are the dorms air-conditioned?
No, dorms are not air-conditioned. Exeter has a limited supply of fans that conference participants can borrow on a first come, first served basis. Request a fan when you check in to the conference.
Do your dorms have elevators?
Some dorms have elevators, but this is not the norm.
Will I get my own room?
Yes, unless you request another conference attendee as your roommate.
How are dorm rooms assigned?
Most dorms are assigned by gender, but in some cases, dorms are mixed with floors assigned by gender. There is an option to request a non binary/gender neutral dorm or floor assignment.
Are bathrooms shared or will my room have its own bath?
You will share a bathroom with people assigned to your floor. Consider bringing flips flops or shower shoes.
Are guests allowed to stay in the dorms?
No, we are not able to provide housing for any guests, including partners, spouses and children. Dorm housing is only available to conference participants.
Can you smoke in the dorms?
No, Phillips Exeter Academy is a non-smoking campus. Smoking is prohibited on our property, including in and around all buildings and dorms.
Is there a kitchen area in my dorm?
Yes, all dorms have common areas which include basic kitchens and lounge areas. Please also see Exeter dining.
Area Hotels and Inns
We realize people may prefer the amenities of hotels or inns. If you choose to stay off campus, below is a list of local lodging options where we have room blocks in place. When calling for a reservation, mention you are attending a summer teacher institute at Phillips Exeter Academy for our preferred rate. The cost of off-site lodging is not included in the conference fee. There are a limited number of rooms available, so please plan accordingly.
