A.B. Middlebury College

M.A. Colgate University

Ms. Terhune joins PEA’s College Counseling Office after more than two decades of work at selective colleges in admissions, student and academic affairs. Devoted to the liberal arts, Ms. Terhune earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a concentration in modern art from Middlebury College in Vermont. After working there for two years in student activities, volunteer programs and residential life, she spent the next 15 years at Colgate University, in central New York. Ms. Terhune worked first in the Office of Admission while pursuing her MAT with a focus on secondary science, then went on to direct both the Office of Student Activities and the Center for Outreach, Volunteerism and Education. In these roles, she advised students as they considered their interests, set personal and academic goals, and created strategies for achieving them.

Most recently, Ms. Terhune served as Senior Assistant Director in Colby College’s Office of Admission where she managed the application review process. She has a broad understanding of current admissions practices and how colleges and universities serve the academic and personal needs of their students in different ways. She is particularly interested in issues of access, affordability and inclusion and has worked with first-generation and other underserved students.

Ms. Terhune is married and is the mother of two "mostly fledged" sons, a recent college graduate and a current college student. She is an avid reader, printmaker and pastel painter. She enjoys hiking and the outdoors, and being involved in her community.
