Biography

Ms. Terhune joined PEA’s College Counseling Office after more than two decades of work at small liberal arts colleges in admissions, student life, and academic affairs. Ms. Terhune earned an AB in biology and a concentration in modern art from Middlebury College. She had a long career in student activities, volunteer programs, and residential life at Middlebury, Colgate and Colby, earning an MAT with a focus on secondary science from Colgate along the way. In each of these roles, she advised college students as they considered their interests, set personal and academic goals, and created strategies for achieving them.

Before coming to Phillips Exeter, Ms. Terhune worked in Colby College’s Office of Admission where she coordinated large-scale events like admitted students programs, assessed applications and managed the application review process. She has a broad understanding of current admissions practices and how colleges serve the academic and personal needs of their students in different ways. As a first generation college student herself, Ms. Terhune is particularly interested in issues of college access, affordability, and inclusion, and has worked to support other first generation and under-represented students throughout her career.

Ms. Terhune is married and is the mother of two grown sons. She is an avid reader, amateur artist, and nature enthusiast.
