The Student Activities Department creates programming that enhances the academic, residential, and social life of the Exeter community.
With more than 1,000 students as your peers and nearly 200 clubs to choose from, you’re likely to find dozens of friends who share your interests.
Our student-led clubs focus on everything from art to zoology, with more popping up each year based on current interests.
Students are encouraged to get involved in whatever peaks their interest. Whether you’re producing theater productions with Dramat or catching waves with Surf Club, there’s more than one way to get involved and find your thing!

Perform
Whether you’re an experienced actor or just like move to move and groove, there are plenty of chances to get out and perform while at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Dramat: One of the largest student led organizations on campus, students have a chance to write, produce and act in small theater productions, and they get hands-on experience in programming and performance productions.
Outkast: Exeter’s all-male stepping and hip-hop dance group, promotes strength through movement. The team practices and performs together throughout the year.
PEADQUACS: One of several a cappella groups on campus, this coed group performs a wide variety of student-arranged music covering many genres including rock, pop, jazz, blues and more.
INMOTION : Exeter’s co-ed dance group that focuses on choreography inspired by hip-hop, funk, lyrical and more. Learn choreography from studios like the Millenium Dance Studios and from artists such as Brian Puspos, Alexander Chung, and more.
POMS: Exeter’s cheerleading group that boosts school spirit by performing at pep rallies, Exeter vs. Andover football and basketball half-time shows.
Unite
Exeter student organizations offer many opportunities to come together and unite on a shared background or interest.
Afro-Latinx Exonian Society (ALES): This organization hosts events and discussions, and provides a welcoming atmosphere for students of color at Exeter.
Gender and Sexuality Alliance (GSA): Supports Exeter’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students and educates the community on relevant topics.
Muslim Student Association: Supports the Academy’s Muslim community and promotes understanding of Islamic concepts.
Environmental Action Committee (EAC): Each year this group focuses on a theme, such as alternative energy, and sponsors campus events and speakers to educate about the environment.
International Student Alliance: A group dedicated to international students attending Phillips Exeter, the International Student Alliance aims to bring together different cultures and backgrounds of students to celebrate their diversity.
Move
There is no shortage of ways to get moving, both on and off campus.
Outing Club: Get off campus and into the great outdoors with your fellow Exonians as you explore to hiking, canoeing, rock climbing, snowshoeing and more.
Rock Climbing Club: Whether you’re an expert rock climber or have never climbed before, Rock Climbing Club is open to all levels. Get off campus and explore boulders at Pawtuckaway State Park or try out the newly built climbing wall located in Love Gym.
Exeter Surf Club: This club provides all you need (wetsuits, boards and transportation) to get into a range of surf conditions. For beginning and experienced surfers alike.
Exeter Workout Club: Work on your fitness goals with friends and create specialized programs to meet your specific needs.
Cricket Club: Dive into the word of cricket with the Cricket Club. No experience or skills needed as this club will teach you the ropes, watch epic cricket moments, and play matches.
Learn
The learning doesn’t stop outside of the Harkness table! Expand your knowledge and dive deep into any of our learning based student-led clubs.
PEA Quiz Club: Members cover a wide range of subject areas and disciplines, and their year ramps up toward head-to-head competitions with other schools in the New Hampshire Quiz Bowl.
Astronomy Club: Members observe the sky and its wonders during weekly meetings at Grainger Observatory. When they aren’t viewing deep sky objects, planets and double stars, they’re discussing astronomy discoveries.
Architecture Club: Members learn about the architecture occupation, get hands-on experience with practicing architects and provide input about what they’d like to see in future buildings on campus.
Science Olympiad: Join Exeter’s team of Science Olympiad’s and compete in 23 events pertaining to various scientific disciplines including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.
Robotics Club: In robotics club, students of all skill levels combine fundamental design skills through collaboration and innovation, merging science and engineering with business and entrepreneurship. Join this club and you may even get to compete in worlds!
Serve
Non sibi is our school’s motto and is threaded into the every day life at Exeter. You’ll see acts of service engrained into many of our clubs offerings.
Exeter Political Union: Members foster diversity of opinion on campus through their work to coordinate campus political groups (such as the Democratic Club and the Republican Club) and present forums on topics of current political interest.
Ocean Awareness and Action Club: An advocacy group that raises awareness on ocean issues in our community and beyond. Through community engagement projects, film showings, art exhibitions, and more, this club focuses on taking action and having fun.
Environmental Proctors (E-Proctors): Join this group and become an advocate for sustainably living on campus. E-Proctors are committed to making Exeter a more sustainable community by implementing environmental projects in their dorms.
Student Council (StuCo): With 75 elected members, StuCo presents student-initiated proposals to faculty, disburses money to student clubs and coordinates a wide range of student activities.

Sometimes all you need is a little fun!
Big Red Zone: Join the Big Red Zone and get ready to get loud and show off your Exeter pride. This club works directly with the athletics program to encourage and grow school spirit around our sports games and throughout campus.
Bob Ross Painting Club: Grab your paint brushes and start painting your ‘happy little trees.’ The Bob Ross Painting Club is just that – a group of students who come together once a month to paint Bob Ross paintings. Designed to be a stress free and relaxing time, the club also provides a pancake breakfast!
Exeter Culinary Association: Whether you’re looking to take a break from the dining hall, polish up your culinary skills or learn new ones, Exeter Culinary Association comes together each week to make delicious dishes.
Bird Watching Club: In the Bird Watching Club, you’ll get out into nature and meet with ornithologists as your learn more about the birds native to Exeter.
Tea Club: Whether you’re a tea enthusiast or a tea newbie, Tea Club is a low-key club that brings together drinking tea while socializing, studying, listening to music, or just having fun.
