Global Opportunities

The world is waiting for you.

Exeter’s Global Initiatives programs, an extension of the Harkness table, offer students a diverse array of opportunities around the world — each a vital lesson in global citizenship through experiential immersion.

Last year, more than 400 students and 51 faculty members participated in over two dozen travel and learning opportunities supported by Global Initiatives, with the opportunity to study abroad in one of six countries: England, Italy, Japan, Germany, Spain and The Bahamas. Students also travel on a range of domestic and international programs during our November and March breaks, and we have greatly expanded our internship opportunities for rising seniors.

In the spirit of Exeter’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Vision Statement, we believe “that we are all better equipped to learn and to lead when our thoughts are tested by others, particularly by those whose thoughts or identities are different from our own. Only when we skillfully engage our differences ... will we find a path to that greater understanding of the world and how we can be of service to it.”

This trip has taught me so much. I am leaving Maui with a newfound interest in environmentalism with a focus on cultural importance and the idea that history can be taught through the nature it took place in.”
