Supporting students through the Lamont Health and Wellness Center
The Lamont Health and Wellness Center (LHWC) is proud to provide exceptional, student-centered medical care in a nurturing and professional environment for students enrolled in Exeter Summer. While the full range of school-year services is not in operation during the summer, we continue to offer robust, accessible care that ensures students can thrive academically, socially and personally throughout their time on campus.
Our Commitment
The LHWC team is dedicated to ensuring that every Exeter Summer student has access to safe, effective, developmentally informed medical care. Whether a student is navigating a simple health question, an unexpected illness, or an emotional concern, Exeter students are never alone—support is always available.
Our Summer Care Model
The LHWC remains open 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the Summer Session. Students may access assessments and treatment for illness, injury, and other medical concerns at any time, including overnight. Our team includes licensed medical providers and registered nurses, with on-call coverage to address urgent needs around the clock.
Medical Care
- 24/7 onsite care for illness, injury, and urgent concerns
- Daily clinic hours for routine evaluation and treatment
- On-call medical providers to support urgent or after-hours needs
- Medication management, including coordination with family providers when needed
- Collaboration with local hospitals, specialists, and emergency services when indicated
Students can expect the same high-quality medical care available during the academic year, tailored to the pace and structure of Summer Session.
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)
Student emotional well-being remains a priority at Exeter. During the Summer Session:
- Crisis evaluation and urgent mental health support is available 24/7
- Staff are trained to assist students experiencing acute emotional distress, safety concerns, or emergent psychological needs
- Ongoing regular individual counseling is not offered during the summer, as that clinical need is better met with providers established at home who can offer continuity of care
Our approach ensures that every student has access to compassionate, professional support when it matters most.
Additional Service Notes for Summer
The LHWC model during the Summer Session is streamlined to reflect the compressed academic calendar and condensed programming. While the school-year wellness ecosystem includes multiple integrated specialties, summer health services emphasize medical care and crisis response.
During the Summer Session:
- Athletic training services are not available
- Nutrition services and individualized nutrition counseling are not offered
Students with established needs in these areas are encouraged to coordinate with their home providers before arrival and to continue care remotely if appropriate.
Student Access and Communication
Students may visit the LHWC at any time—no appointment needed for urgent concerns. For families, our team welcomes communication regarding ongoing medical needs, medication plans, or relevant updates prior to the student’s arrival on campus.
