Wireless connectivity is available throughout campus.
Personal wireless access points are NOT permitted on the Academy network.
The Academy provides 24×7 Internet access; however, IT performs routine maintenance causing interruption to network services. Visit our Information Technology site on ExeterConnect for General Maintenance information.
The Academy has three wireless networks:
PEA-Secure
An encrypted WiFi network for students, faculty and staff. You must have a network account to register your device.
Windows, Mac, and iOS devices:
- Select PEA-Secure from your list of available wireless networks
- Enter your Academy username and password (NOT your Exeter email address)
- Accept (or Trust) the certificate. From a Mac, you may be prompted for your Mac administrative username and password to save the Certificate Trust Settings
- Wait five to ten seconds and your device registration will be complete
- Open a browser and you are ready to surf the web
iPhone v. 14 and above. You may need to disable Private Address in your PEA-Secure WiFi setting to complete the network registration. If you are having trouble connecting to website from your iPhones/iPads turn off Private Relay. To turn of Private Relay, go to Settings > Apple Id, iCloud + > iCloud > turn off Private Relay.
Android and Chromebooks
- Select PEA-Secure from your list of available wireless networks
- Enter the following information, if prompted. NOTE: Not all Android devices require the same information. For Amazon Kindles, you may be prompted to enter a domain, enter exeter.edu
- EAP method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate: “Unspecified’ or ‘n/a’ or ‘Use system certificates’ or ‘Do not check’ or ‘Do not validate’
- TLS Version: TLS v1.2
- User certificate or Online certificate status: ‘Unspecified’ or ‘Do not verify’
- Domain, enter exeter.edu
- Identity: your username (not Exeter email address)
- Password: Exeter password
- Anonymous Identity: Leave blank or remove the word Anonymous if populated
- Click “Connect” button
- Accept the certificate, if prompted
- Open a browser and you are ready to surf the web
PEA-Guest
An unsecure WiFi network for guests. Requires your email address, first and last name, cell phone (optional). To register, you must be able to access your email or receive a text message to enter a code on the registration page.
Guests must register their devices to connect to wireless access at Phillips Exeter Academy.
To register for guest access:
- Select PEA-Guest from the list of available wireless networks
- A Network Registration webpage will appear
- Accept the Acceptable Use Policy
- Complete the Guest Registration form and click Request Access
- You will be redirected to a WELCOME GUEST page with your email address and password populated
- A success page will appear with a bar counting down to complete your registration
- Once registered, you are ready to surf the web
If you have additional devices to register at the same time, look for the email with your email address and password.
Guest registrations last for seven days. Repeat to extend your registration beyond seven days.
Faculty Family
An encrypted Wifi network for faculty family members.
It can also be used to capture the MAC address on devices such as Google Home, smart lights, etc., requiring an encrypted connection to view the MAC address prior to registering a device to the network. Visit the Information Technology site on ExeterConnect for Faculty Family information.
