Biography
Mr. Thacker has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Scandinavia with the Bergen Philharmonic in Norway, Hawaii Symphony and Sarasota Opera. Guest engagements include performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Washington National Opera and the Boston Pops. He joined the Portland Symphony Orchestra bass section in 2014 and serves as a teaching artist in their Music Explorers program, which embeds musicians within the community using music as an educational device in early childhood development.
As a chamber musician, Mr. Thacker has collaborated with members of Ensemble Intercontemporain and Charlotte Hug while in residence at the Lucerne Festival Academy in Switzerland, Jennifer Curtis at the Garth Newel Music Center and with members of the Borromeo Quartet.
Mr. Thacker is a graduate of Yale and The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. In addition to his work at the Academy, Mr. Thacker is currently on faculty at Gordon College.
