Student Action

Protecting the environment is a big concern for many Exonians on campus. Sixty-seven environmental, or “E,” proctors work with their dorm mates and classmates to encourage composting, energy savings, recycling and waste reduction. Even more students join some of the 13 environmental clubs, which represent a range of interests — from farming and gardening to beach cleanup and wildlife conservation. Students also lead efforts to establish new clubs and initiatives, like Exeter’s new collection of bee hives or its first Trash to Treasure dorm cleanout, which rescued 3,700 pounds of clothing and electronics from the landfill.
