Schedule 2010
Morning sessions will be spent doing generative writing exercises in order to begin crafting your own works. As well, we will look at the work of published writers and poets, both for inspiration and to sudy the craft of writing. We will read as writers, rather than as critics and consumers of writing. That is, we look not only at why and how a writer writes as he or she does but also how we can incorporate such techniques in a way that makes them our own?
Afternoons will begin with participant workshops. Writing that participants have generated will be examined by the group in an effort to suggest revision strategies to the writer.
Writing workshops will be followed by small group teaching workshops wherein groups will discuss and compile different techniques to teach writing in their own classrooms (as well as continue your own life as a writer).
