PEA Music Department Performs St. Cecilia’s Day Concert

Exeter, NH (November 18, 2009)—On Sunday, November 22, at 4:00 p.m., Phillips Exeter Academy’s Music Department will present a St. Cecilia’s Day Concert to honor St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music and composer Franz Josef Haydn on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his death. The concert is inside Phillips Church, located on the corner of Tan Lane and Front Street. The concert is free and open to the public.
Student members of the PEA Chamber Orchestra, Concert Choir and Glee Club, along with voice faculty Susan Consoli, soprano, are scheduled to perform works by Haydn. The concert includes: Symphony No. 100 ~ “The Military Symphony”; and Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo ~ “The Little Organ Mass,” with Susan Consoli, soprano and Abigail Siegfried, organ; and Part Songs: Die Harmonie in der Ehe, Die Beredsamkeit, and Alles hat seine Zeit.
