Exonians cheer at E/A games.

The crowd was electric as Exeter and Andover renewed their rivalry once again Saturday afternoon on Big Red’s campus. The two schools battled in front over 1,000 enthusiastic spectators in a day filled with exciting competition.

The girls varsity basketball team avenged a three-point loss to Andover earlier this season with a thrilling 47-40 victory to kick off the afternoon. The lead was handed back and forth throughout the contest but Big Red was able to connect for two clutch buckets in the final 90 seconds of play to seal the win. The girls JV team pulled to within one in the final minute of play in their game later in the afternoon, but Andover held on in a tight finish, 30-29.

Girls basketball beat Andover 47-40.

Girls varsity basketball set an up-tempo start for the games with a 47-40 victory.

The boys JV basketball team capped their undefeated season with a big 58-34 win. Exeter sprinted out of the gate and opened up a 19-4 lead and landed with a perfect 15-0 on the year. The boys varsity basketball team, however, could not stop Andover’s hot shooting in the second half and dropped a hard fought game, 57-49.

Girls JV hockey connected early and often to defeat Big Blue 9-0 while the girls varsity team was not able to slow down a fast Andover start, falling 7-0.

In the boys varsity ice hockey game, Andover jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Exeter would finally get their offense in gear as they controlled the puck and fired 43 total shots at the Big Blue goal, but they were only able to connect on a pair as they fell 5-2.

There were two tight matches featured in the pool as Andover inched past both the boys JV and the girls JV swim teams by narrow margins.

Outside of E/A games, the boys varsity wrestling team traveled to Lehigh University for the National Prep Wrestling Championship. Big Red finished 13th in the country out of 108 schools and saw two wrestlers finish as place winners in their division. AJ Pedro finished 2nd in the 182 weight class while Hayden Brown placed 5th at 108.
