Art Instructor Tara Lewis’ work in print, on exhibition this fall

Tara Lewis is back on campus this fall as Clowes Chair in Art after a sabbatical, but the year away was a fruitful one for the artist.

Two of Lewis’ drawings are featured in Between the Lines: A Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists, Volume 7, published by RxArt. Lewis was invited last year to create the line drawings, and the book is currently in bookstores and available online. RxArt is a nonprofit based in New York City whose mission is to "help children heal through the extraordinary power of visual art."

Lewis’ drawings are part of a charity auction for RxArt (link below). Proceeds from this auction will go towards transforming sterile healthcare facilities into engaging and inspiring environments full of beauty, humor and comfort.

Meanwhile, Lewis’ work has also been on display in a flurry of shows, including a solo exhibition at The Blackbird Gallery in Manhattan. Too Cool For School ran throughout September.

Lewis also earned a hard-to-get invitation to show at the 26th Watermill Center Annual Art Benefit in Watermill, New York and was invited to exhibit new paintings and photographs in an upcoming group show on Manhattan’s Lower East Side titled “On Guard NY." This exhibition features contemporary female identifying artists exploring sports and women’s involvement in them.
