PEA Receives Publication Awards from the New England Museum Association (NEMA)
Exeter, NH (July 8, 2009)—Phillips Exeter Academy earned first place and honorable mention awards earlier this summer from the New England Museum Association’s annual Publication Awards Competition, recognizing excellence in design, production and effective communication in museum publishing. The Academy’s entries earned first place in the “Posters” category for its Generations exhibit, and an honorable mention in the “Websites, Budget under $250,000” category, in recognition of the Lamont Gallery website.
Entries were judged by a panel of graphic designers, museum marketing and communications staff, and a museum visitor from the public. This year’s competition included 209 publications from 70 museums competing in 19 different categories. Each of the entries were described by the judges as “…impressive with a high quality of design and effective communication.” PEA’s Generations poster was produced by Project and Lamont Gallery Director Karen Burgess Smith and Designer Nathaniel Raymond, Blueandblack.net; and the Lamont Gallery website was produced by Website Managing Editor Nicole Pellaton (Communications Office), and designed by Web Services Specialist Connie Nardi (ITS) and Smith (Art Department/Lamont Gallery).
Gallery hours in July are: Tuesday–Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; closed on Saturday–Monday. For further information, contact the Lamont Gallery at 603-777-3461.
