Students who took part in the Civil Rights/Social Justice trip to Montgomery present guests from Bryan Stevenson's Equal Justice Initiative. Attorney Benjamin Schaefer will speak about Child Imprisonment, Mass Incarceration, and efforts to give incarcerated individuals a fair shot at justice. Mr. Schaefer graduated from the New York University School of Law where he participated in the Equal Justice and Captain Defender Clinic and interned at the Orleans Public Defenders in Louisiana. He has a BA in History from UVA and a Masters in Administration, Planning, and Social Policy from Harvard University Graduate School of Education. He will be available in the Latin Study for lunch (12:50-1:30) for additional discussion & questions. At 6:30pm in Mayer Auditorium, the community will get a chance to meet Anthony Ray Hinton, a man on death row for 30 years for a crime he didn't commit. One of EJI's most noteworthy clients, he will share his story in a way only he can.
