Meet the Team

I grew up in Exeter and have always lived in the Seacoast area. In 1983, I joined the Academy in the Annual Giving Office. Over the years, I continued fundraising for Exeter in both the Capital Giving and Planned Giving offices. In 1998, I was assigned to my current position in Advancement Operations, which oversees both the operations and information services teams.

Both my mother and father are retired college professors, and because of this, I spent my childhood growing up on a college campus. The campus was filled with opportunities to experience different cultures, as well as various creative outlets including art and music. Being lifelong educators, my parents loved teaching my siblings and me whenever they had the opportunity. I believe that is why one of my favorite parts of my job is mentoring others whenever I have the chance.

Susan Clews

I grew up in Morristown, New Jersey, and relocated to New England after graduating from Merrimack College in 1971. I began my career at Harvard University, holding several positions within the Student Billing and Receivables Department. After 20-plus years in Cambridge, I moved to New Hampshire to raise my family in the Seacoast area. In 1996, I joined the Institutional Advancement team at PEA as the manager of advancement operations. I held this position for 20 years and currently work part time as a business process analyst for our Operations team.

Laura Crawford

A native of Exeter and a member of the Institutional Advancement team since 2004, I’ve spent my Exeter career working in data management and currently hold the role of manager of advancement information services. I am responsible for developing strategic business process improvements, reporting and analytics solutions, and vendor and project management expertise related to the Academy’s Institutional Advancement mission. We work with a variety of software vendors to provide our colleagues with the information and tools they need to be successful.

Carol Culbertson

I am originally from the Philadelphia area but became a New England transplant in 2003 after hiking the Appalachian Trail and falling in love with New Hampshire. I have lived in Exeter since 2009 and hope to call it home for many years to come. My professional experience has been primarily with human services agencies within the nonprofit field, including operations, database management, gift recording and event planning. I was thrilled to join this community within the larger Exeter community in May 2018.

Susan Fairbanks

I moved to the Seacoast with my family in 1998. I joined the Academy in 1999 in the Advancement Operations Department, starting in the Records Office as an information services specialist. In 2001, I moved over to Gift Recording as a contribution management specialist. In the nearly 20 years that I have been with the Academy, I have processed millions of dollars of contributions, been responsible for tens of thousands of receipts and answered thousands of questions.

Cheryl McGregor

Cheryl is responsible for providing specific technology support for all Alumni and Parent Relations and Development activities and events throughout the year.

Dolly Jo McPherson

Born and raised in Presque Isle, Maine, among the “tater” fields of Aroostook County, my childhood revolved around family, school, athletics, tap, ballet and piano lessons and endless hours of jumping on our trampoline. Life was grand! I always enjoyed learning and was very happy to be able to attend college at the alma mater of my father and four older siblings. A family tradition, so to say. Three months after graduation, I was hired at my old high school as the Computer Aide, where I monitored a room of 50 IBM machines and helped students with any issues they encountered.

Jennifer Norton

I have lived in New Hampshire all my life and currently live in the Seacoast area. I began my career at the Academy in the summer of 1996 when I joined the Office of Planned Giving. In my current position, I am responsible for training and support for all software applications and technology to help advance the mission of Institutional Advancement.

I volunteer in my children’s schools and with Pease Greeters.

Achievements

Recipient of the Blair Brown and Borden Brown Staff Excellence Award.

Walter Tate

I grew up in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and joined the Academy in 2013. After spending close to 20 years bridging business and technology initiatives for portfolio management, securities trading and investment administration in the financial services industry, I appreciate having the opportunity to bring new ideas and concepts to the Academy by collaborating and creating solutions to help align people, process and technology while increasing operational effectiveness and philanthropic support.
